The end of SEO jobs

After all, although the google algorythm itself is a highly complex affair, the tasks required to move websites up it's rankings are not that difficult to learn or do. Certainly in my experience, without knowing too much of the rational behind things, so long as you put enough effort in at the wide end of the funnel, you'll pull results out at the other end.

At least, that was my thinking before I had another read of the SEO forums this weekend, it really was quite depressing. I found 'exper't and 'expert' in SEO jobs expressing that this technique and that technique no longer worked. Here's a few tastes of what was written in the forums this weekend.

• Directory submissions no longer have any effect....at all!

• Any form of paid links will be picked up and penalized

• Distributing articles can be picked up via discoveirng repeated duplicate content and the backlinks discounted.

• Reciprocal links are of no value at all.

• Google can detect 3 way linking and discount the impact of any links

• Social bookmarking doesn't generate a back link...yes it does....no it doesn't....yes it does...no it doesn't....yes it does.....thread still running!

• Page descriptions are of no value....google simply refers t the pahe itself

• Keywords are irrelevant, google looks at the page for relevance

Unfortunately, this list goes on. In fact, it pretty much covers everything we do! We, and eveyone else in SEO jobs might as well pack up and go home.

Well, if you want some good news, I reckon most of the above is hot air from attention seeking folk looking for aitime with Extreme some views. I could go through each of the above and present the flaws to their arguments, but then I would be as boring as them1

There will be much truth in the above in that google is certainly chaning the way it ranks sites and treats each of the factors above. However, a backlink is still a vote for your site, and whatever weighting google chooses to give it, I don't believe there are many links (if any). If you are in SEO jobs, so long as you continue nto build backlinks to your site through a variety of means, you will see results, even if these results are taking a little bit longer than they used to. But, if logic follows through, when you get your results, they should be more stable than before.
